‘My connection to Glacier National Park is an extremely personal and historical, beginning nearly 20 years before the park was established. I am the great-great granddaughter of Milo B. Apgar, whose original homestead at the south end of Lake McDonald became Apgar Village. The Apgar House, built in 1900 by H.D. Apgar stood at the end of the lake and looked out at what has become one of the most famous scenic views in the world, all the way across Lake McDonald to the panoramic mountains beyond. However, when selecting an image for this particular piece I chose the view from what was my grandparent’s backyard. Standing along McDonald Creek, just downstream from the large cabin, precariously balanced on the bank above, in which my grandparents lived during my father’s early childhood. I chose to create a linocut as the best medium to portray the historical imagery of Glacier National Park for its Centennial Celebration. ‘
